"And these signs shall
follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall
speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any
deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they
shall recover" Mc. 16:16-17. This is an infallible promise to
those that believe. The strategy of the enemy
in falsifying this promise is to neglect the side "believe" and focus on the side “miracle.” I have sufficiently lingered over the notion of faith in my previous publications: Faith is not man’s imagination or option, faith is a gift of God sent to the saints once for all. Man is behooved to receive this gift as God gives it, or reject it. No deformation or adaptation as suits you best.

Now the enemy makes people
believe what they like, what they choose to believe, not what God commands them
to believe; in short, they reject the Truth, but perform miracles in Jesus'
name! And it becomes dangerous for God’s children who love miracles, insomuch
that they lose balance against the order of things: miracles shall follow faith. First
faith as a mustard seed (see publication Faith comes by hearing by the Word of God on http://paulinenglish.blogspot.com/2014/01/faith-comes-by-hearing-word-of-god.html
), then this faith must be approved of God himself upon proven obedience,
and then God vindicates it by miracles. Paul tells us that he that gives us the Spirit and
works miracles among us does it through the hearing of faith (Ga.3:5).
When we go back into the Old
Testament, we see that Abraham received many promises, including that of seed.
Abraham believed and waited to see the fulfillment. Sarah was impatient to see
the promised miracle, she fashioned one, Ishmael. But Ishmael was not the miracle
that followed their faith, but the real miracle promised, Isaac, arrived
only twenty-five years after they had believed. And when God tried
Abraham and he found him obedient, he did fulfill other promises. But
not all promises at once, since other promises made to Abraham got fulfilled in
Jesus Christ, and they continue to be fulfilled in us until now, tens of
centuries later. If the Lord has made promises, we must first exercise faith,
i.e. trust that He promised himself to perform. We must not, by impatience and
unbelief fashion to ourselves the fulfillment of God's promises.
Elijah on Mount Carmel, wrought a
great miracle: bringing down fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice at the
time of presentation of the offering (in 1Kings 18). But let us consider
what he did: He repaired the altar of the LORD that had been broken down, and
built an altar to the Lord with twelve stones standing for the twelve tribes of
Israel - in the New Testament, the twelve apostles - and set wood, cut the
bull, etc. and said "Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and of Israel,
Let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy
servant, and that I have done all
these things at thy word!'v.36. We are living in an age
where the same approach of Elijah is in force, because the altar of the LORD
was overthrown and his temple turned into market. Order in the temple needs to
be restored first, the altar restored by setting again the Gospel preached by
the twelve apostles, everything according to the Word of God.
It should be noted that in that
time, miracles by the God of Truth had disappeared because Israel had forsaken
the LORD; he had turned away from the law of the Lord and had, through King Ahab,
entered into a marriage with paganism through Jezebel. The Church of Christ,
likewise, from the post-apostolic era began to go away from the apostolic
doctrine in its purest form, so far as to enter into a marriage with Roman
paganism in the fourth century, in the time of Emperor Constantine. This chased
away the miracles of God of Truth, because He can only operate them through the
Word of Truth. In Elijah's time, however, there were prophets who could perform
miracles by Baal or Ashera, the Queen of Heaven, or many other gods than
Yahweh. Today, similarly, since the Church of Christ threw out the truth and
the power of miracles of Truth contained therein, other lying spirits have
conquered space to provide false miracles and deceive people.
When Elijah arrived at the widow of
Zarephath, he declared a 'thus saith the Lord " to her ( in 1Kings
17) "the barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the
day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth." v.14. This
oracle was a promise, and it only became reality when the widow obeyed orders
which preceded to it, “but make me thereof a little cake first,
and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and thy son" v.13.
She obeyed against all rationale and exhausted the handful of flour and some
oil she had left because she trusted God's Word cannot fail. As
for the children of this world, they are seeking miracles that go without faith
and obedience to the infallible Word of God!
We can take a look in the New
Testament, the apostles. They are also the ones who were promised "And
these signs shall follow them that believe". But after giving
this promise, he instructed them not to leave Jerusalem (Actes 1:4). Why? "For
out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem”
Es. 2:3 (last part). To remain in Jerusalem is to keep the Word of
the Lord. The apostles followed the instruction of the Lord strictly, and the
promise was fulfilled literally. But ‘Christians of this generation’ are far away
from Jerusalem, i.e. the Word of God and the testimony which was proclaimed by
the apostles in Jerusalem, but have engaged in the paganism spread across the
world by the Roman-Christendom.
I have given all these biblical
examples to help understand whim that is willing to understand that miracles are
a promise to us who believe, we are not to fulfill the promise but the author of
the promise himself (Gal. 3:5). And for God to work
them among us, we need to have faith as a mustard seed, i.e. the non- hybridized
Word of God, and not get away from Jerusalem.
Of course, this does not imply
that 'Christians
of this generation’ cannot work miracles by the god of this world – but
not the God of Truth. The miracle so performed without the background of Truth,
is in the bible named 'lying miracle'. "Even
him, whose coming is after the working of Satan, with all power and signs and
lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of
the Truth, that they might be saved " 2Thes.2:9-10. Miracles
by the God of Truth follow the Truth, they play the role of vindicating the
Word of God. But where the testimony originally declared in Jerusalem is not
proclaimed, what do miracles come to do, if not to glorify a man or deceive
people and divert attention from the God of Truth? The Bible, in this passage
suggests one effective weapon against deception by lying miracles, namely the
love of the Truth; and all those that do not love the Truth are automatically
prey to lying miracles.
Those who love the Truth and reckon
themselves as children of God need to open their eyes because lying miracles
form the ultimate process of seduction the enemy can ever use, "For
there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs
and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Behold, I have told you before.” Mt.24:24-25. Open your eyes; it is
to examine the word which is preached, not miracles that are produced, because
even sorcerers and magicians perform miracles.
We live in the time of
restitution of all things. Every child of God should check himself, and review
the position of his heart vis-à-vis the Word of God. If it is far from
Jerusalem, he should beseech the Lord, in the love of the truth, who will
restore him to Jerusalem, the only place where the Father's promise is supposed
to find us.
If you feel blessed, share and pour out the same blessings.
