Jn. 1:3 "All things were made by Him (the
Word); and without Him was not anything made that was made." There
is absolutely nothing God can ever do without the Word. The devil has the
potential to do things without the Word; he can build temples or churches
without the Word,
he can prophesy without the Word, he can perform miracles
without the Word, he can give blessings without the Word, he can hold
evangelistic crusades or campaigns without the Word, he can arrange night prayer
or recollections for intercession and deliverance without the Word, etc. But with
God, as we have just read, it is absolutely impossible and excluded for him to
do anything out of the Word.
God had created the universe
(Ge. 1:1-2) and the spirit of God moved upon the waters and all things
remained on their own. But what was required for God to transform this pandemonium
universe into habitable world as we enjoy today? - God spoke His Word every
time
"Let there be light ... Let there be an expanse between the waters ... Let
the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let dry
land appear. etc.. "(Read the story of creation in Ge.
1 and 2). God was transforming by his Word
the universe he had created by his Word. God did not simply take to creating
man, but the Word came first: "Let us make man in our image
..." God did not just give man a wife, but the Word came first:
"It
is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for
him.”
And the universe that God created
and transformed by His Word, the same does he also uphold by his Word, He.
1:3 "And upholding all things by the Word of his power...".
We see that God creates,
transforms and sustains through His Word. We who are born again and become a new
creature, faith must be created in us by the Word of God, our lives must be
transformed by the Word of God and our faith must be upheld by the Word of God.
Prayer, miracles, etc. do not create a new life, not transform nor sustain
faith, they are only the outcomes of the new life created, transformed and
sustained by the Word of God. If the Word is falsified or replaced by human
interpretation, there is spiritual illusion, but new life is not and will never
be there.
How does God give us joy? - By
His Word,
Jn 15:11 "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in
you, and that your joy might be full", and not, I have prayed a
lot for you, or I have shown you many miracles so that your joy might be full.
How does God give us peace? - By
His Word,
Ac. 10:36 “The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace
by Jesus Christ ..." For their peace, God did not send
democracy or a republican army, but his Word.
How do we receive the Holy
Spirit? – still by keeping the word of Christ, Jn. 14:23 "If a man
love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come
unto him, and make our abode with him." He did not say if a man
fasts and prays a lot ... Also, this scripture is showing us that loving God is
not to mortify oneself (as did the prophets of Baal), but to keep His Word (as
did Elijah on Mount Carmel). I hereby bet that many are wrong thinking they
love God, but God will tell them on the last day that he never knew them. Why?
- They were in religious organizations, but far from the Word of God.
How does God heal? – by His Word, Ps.
107:20 "He sent His Word and healed them ..." How are we
delivered? – by the knowledge of the truth obtained by continuing in the Word
of God,
Jn 8:31-32 "If ye continue in my Word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know
the truth, and the truth shall make you free". How are demons cast
out from us? - Using the word, Mt. 8:16 "And he cast out the spirits
with his Word, and healed all that were sick." Instead, many
prefer to organize retreats in the mountains or in the forest, chambers of
prayer, deliverance and healing sessions (we
are not against these things): but ignoring the Word, all this is vain and demoniacal.
But to us God gives this command in 2Tim 4:2 "Preach the Word; be instant
in season, out of season…" in
response to the question he asked himself in Je. 23:28-29: "What is the chaff to
the wheat? saith the LORD. Is not my Word like a fire? saith the Lord; and like
a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
Well, who will answer back before
the Lord that such devil, sin or disease has withstood this fire or this hammer
that breaks the rock in pieces? Whatever he can do for us is already in the
Word, and God trusts his Word, so he forbids us to mix it with chaff.
How are we made holy? – by the
Word of God which is Truth, Jn. 17:17 "Sanctify them through thy
truth: thy Word is truth." and, Ep. 5:26 “That he might
sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word ." How
are we cleansed? – through the Word of God, Jn. 15:3 "Now ye are clean through the
word which I have spoken unto you". How are we born again? – by
receiving the Word, Jn.1 12: "But as many as received
Him (the Word made flesh), to them gave he power to become the sons,
even to them that believe on his name..." Praying without being
a child of God; it is idolatry, because prayer is addressed to other gods.
However, to become children of God, you must receive the Word of God: that
power is in the Word.
The Bible says in
ICo. 6:2-3 that the saints shall judge the world and angels. We
have already seen above that we become holy through the Word. And how shall the
saints judge the world and angels? - once
again it is through the Word, Jn. 12:48 "He that rejecteth me,
and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have
spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." Rejecting
the Lord is the fact of not receiving His Word, and the saints who are to judge
the world and angels have, themselves, to be the Word, nothing short.
How do we become gods? – by receiving
the Word of God which came to us, Jn. 10:35 "If he called them gods,
unto whom the Word of God came ..."
We could go further but could
never end. Yet by this understand that without the genuine Word of God, there
is nothing to get from God. Those who act without the genuine Word not mixed
with chaff, they do on behalf of the enemy, however good the result may look,
and despite their good faith. Jeremiah who understood the mystery of the power
of the Word of God said, Je. 15:16 “Thy Words were found, and I
did eat them; and thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for
I am called by thy name, O Lord of hosts.”
If you feel blest, share and pour out the same blessings!
